The Tau Chapter of CSI at Lehman College is proud to share an exciting milestone: our members (Joh’vonni Smith, immediate past president, Catharine Alcantra, secretary/treasurer, Dr. Anna, and Dr. Suri [CSI co-advisors]) presented a poster at the 2025 Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) National Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Our poster, titled Rooted in the Bronx, Rising for Justice: The Tau Chapter Legacy, explored the importance of community-based mental health and education, uplifting future counselors through culturally responsive programming, mentorship, and community-based professional development. This project represented a true collaboration among CSI members and faculty advisors, highlighting our chapter’s commitment to scholarship, professional excellence, and advancing the counseling profession.
Presenting at a national conference offered our members the opportunity to:
- Share research and ideas with counselor educators, practitioners, and students from across the country
- Engage in meaningful dialogue about current trends and challenges in the field
- Represent Lehman College and the Tau Chapter with pride and professionalism
Participation in this national event underscores the mission of Chi Sigma Iota—to promote academic and professional excellence in counseling. Our chapter’s presence at the conference reflects the dedication, collaboration, and passion that define our members.
We are grateful to our chapter leadership for their ongoing support and faculty mentors for their guidance. Their encouragement continues to inspire our members to grow as scholars, advocates, and leaders in the counseling community.
Congratulations to all who contributed to this achievement! We look forward to continuing to share our work and connect with professionals locally and across the nation who are equally committed to the values of learning, leadership, and service.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to represent Lehman College and the Tau Chapter on regional and national stages!
